On the third day Robert woke up and the nurses went nuts. Carrie, Sean, and I waited until we were readmitted into Robert's room. He looked good. Incredibly good.

When Sean came to the hospital room after work, he was carrying a potted lemon tree in his hands. He found me and Carrie snuggled up to each other in two hospital chairs that we'd pushed together. We were asleep, hands clasped.He told me later that he cried then.
